Committees of the National Commercial Arbitration Centre

Committees and sub-committees are established by the Executive Board in order to conduct specific assignment or projects. There are four mandatory committees: the Appointment Committee, the Disciplinary Committee, the Education Committee, and the Membership Committee. The Executive Board may create other committees and sub-committees as necessary.

Appointment Committee

The Appointment Committee has the following duties and functions:
  • To appoint arbitrators in accordance with the Arbitrator Rules of the NCAC;
  • To decide in accordance with the Arbitration Rules on plea on jurisdiction of the NCAC;
  • To render advice to the executive Board at its request on matter relating to the appointment process under the Arbitration Rules of the NCAC; and
  • To carry out such additional functions as the Executive Board may request.


Disciplinary Committee
The Disciplinary Committee has the following duties and functions:
  • To render advice to the Executive Board regarding the termination of membership of any member of the NCAC and any disciplinary sanction to be imposed against any member of the NCAC according to the Internal Rules of the NCAC;
  • To render advice to the Executive Board, at its request, on matters relating to disciplinary sanctions; and
  • To carry out such additional functions as the Executive Board may request.


Education Committee
The Disciplinary Committee has the following duties and functions:
  • To render advice to the Executive Board regarding the development of policies relating to the education and training programs, including initial and continuing professional development for the members of the NCAC in accordance with the applicable laws and rules;
  • To render advice to the Executive Board regarding the accreditation of commercial arbitration institution, education and training programs; and
  • To carry out such additional functions as the Executive Board may request.


Membership Committee

The Membership Committee has the following duties and functions:
  • To review all membership applications in accordance with Internal Rules and submit the applications, along with its advice to the Executive Board;
  • To render advice to the Executive Board at its request on matters relating to the membership process under the Internal Rules; and
  • To carry out such additional functions as the Executive Board may request.
